Therapy intensives are designed to create deep, focused healing in a shorter period of time. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which typically happens once a week for 50 minutes, intensives involve several hours of therapy in one day or across a few consecutive days.
This format allows us to do targeted, trauma-informed work without the stop-start rhythm of weekly sessions. It’s especially effective for EMDR therapy, where consistency and momentum are important factors.
In short:
More time per session = deeper processing
Fewer sessions overall = faster progress
Less repetition = more emotional integration and clarity
For high-performing professionals, therapy intensives offer a focused reset—so you can address what’s holding you back and return to your life with renewed clarity, energy, and purpose.
No. People can travel from anywhere to come participate in a therapy intensive. There are many great lodging options here if you live out of the state or are from another country. Colorado is a great place to plan a mental health vacation. It's great to supplement your therapy intensive or EMDR intensive with leisure.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR therapist specializing in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic, and related challenges in high-achieving professionals and leaders. Many of my clients have experienced trauma, loss, or chronic stress, and seek support in navigating their healing process. I frequently work with individuals coping with betrayal, grief and loss, burnout, and the lasting impact of high-functioning anxiety.
No, a therapy intensive or EMDR intensive can be a great supplement to your other therapy. However, please ask your therapist about this to ensure they are on the same page.
In your initial consultation, we will estimate the appropriate length of time for your intensive. It is a good idea to take a day off before and after your intensive. If you are traveling to Colorado for your therapy intensive, please arrive the day before and plan to leave the day after. It's important to leave a buffer of time on either end so that you can focus on yourself and the therapy.
It’s normal to experience a wide range of emotions during an intensive. Because we’re working to release patterns, memories, or beliefs that may be keeping you stuck, emotional responses often surface as part of the healing process. Since we’re accomplishing deep therapeutic work in a condensed timeframe, it’s also common to feel tired. That’s why we build in intentional time for rest and tailor the pace and depth of our work to support your nervous system and individual needs throughout the process.
We conclude our work together with care and intention. At the end of your intensive, we’ll take time to reflect on your experience, explore your thoughts and emotions, and identify what support you may need moving forward. Some clients choose to schedule another intensive or be referred for additional weekly therapy, while others feel ready to transition out of treatment. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan so you leave feeling grounded, supported, and confident in your next steps.
At the end of your therapy intensive or EMDR intensive, our goal is for you to feel calmer, clearer, more focused, and more at ease. While it’s normal to feel tired after doing deep emotional work, many clients also report feeling lighter, more energized, and motivated. Processing trauma and addressing stuck points can create a renewed sense of clarity and strength. We recommend taking the day after your intensive off whenever possible—to rest, integrate, and allow your mind and body to fully absorb the benefits of your experience.
Light snacks and breaks will be provided throughout your intensive, with options tailored to your dietary preferences and needs. Lunch is taken independently, and you'll receive a list of local restaurant recommendations that align with your preferences. We typically allow for a 90-minute lunch break to give you time to recharge and reset before continuing our work.
No, we are a private pay practice. Insurance does not typically cover therapy intensives. We are unable to provide any sort of documentation for insurance companies.
